THY to receive 12 Boeing airplanes in 2015

Turkish Airlines (THY) has received the 125th plane that it has purchased from Boeing, one of 12 that will be delivered to the airline this year, according to a press statement by THY on Tuesday.

“Boeing has played a pivotal role in the development of Turkish Airlines and these deliveries continue to enable this airline to compete, expand and reach new short and long-range destinations nonstop from our hubs in Istanbul,” said THY’s Chief Investment and Technology Officer Ahmet Bolat in the statement.

The plane delivered to THY was a Next-Generation 737-900ER. The airline will receive four more 737s and seven 777s from Boeing this year. THY purchased its first aircraft from Boeing in 1968.

“Turkish Airlines’ growth throughout our relationship has been incredible and we look forward to continuing to support its future success,” Boeing Vice President of European Sales Todd Nelp was quoted as saying in the THY statement.
