Three rivers unification arising from excessive rains turn Edirne into Venice

EDIRNE: Excessive rains in Bulgaria and western Turkish city of Edirne caused to have unification of Maritza Tundza, Arda Rivers and turned Turkey’s historical ottoman city of Edirne into Venice.

Maritsa, Tundza and Arda rivers have united after heavy rainfall which has been affecting many parts of Turkey caused to have also interesting landscapes similar Venice in the city.

Maritza, Tundza and Arda rivers, runs down to the Aegean Sea have reached the record flow rate since 30 years. Water flow every per second in River Maritsa has exceed to 1600 cubic meters for per second. In 1984 water flow per second in River Maritsa had measured as 2400 cubic meters also in 2006 it was measured as 1600 cubic meters. It has been seen that mainly between Edirne city center and Karaagacneighborhood where everywhere gave Venice like landscapes.

Waters of Maritsa has invaded totally the roads between Edirne and Bosnakoy thus totally have blocked the transportation between Edirne city centrum and KaragacNeighborhood after one of the bridge known as Tunca were totally stayed under the floodwaters. Many driving cars between Edirne and Karaagan were stuck were rescued by the municipality workers to the same today as it was yesterday.

Rapid rising of the water level in the two rivers have caused their unification near the between the two historical bridges which was built during the Ottoman era. According to the Edirne governorship that two bridges have totally been closed to the traffic after two entrances of the bridges being flooded by the floodwaters.
