Ten out of 18 police officers arrested in İzmir operation

Ten police officers out of 18 were arrested by an İzmir court on Monday after they were detained in an operation in charges of obtaining classified military information.

The operation was carried out on December 3. by Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Bureau over the order of İzmir Deputy Public Prosecutor Okan Bato. Following their interrogation at the police department, five of the officers were released while the remaining 13 were sent to the court. The court decided release of three officers and arrest of the ten.

In the first wave of the operation, 17 police officers, including former İzmir Police Chief A.B., were arrested on November 3.
