Syrian refugees settle in abandoned prison

IANLIURFA (CIHAN)- As the refugee camps in Turkey brimmed over with Syrian refugees who fled their war-torn country, some Syrian families took shelter in an abandoned prison in southeastern province of IanlIurfa’s Akakale district.

A total of eleven families, relatives with each other settled in an abandoned Akakale prison with their children and trying to cling to life under completely inadequate conditions. Despite the 46 Celsius degrees temperature, some of the families stay in nylon tents in the yard of the prison.

According to latest official data, the number Syrian refugees in Turkey hit to 1 million and 250 thousands which means that this amounts is dreadfully over the infrastructure capacity of the country.
