Stray bullet claims one life in eastern Turkey

MARDIN (CIHAN)- A young man died after being hit in the back by a stray bullet during a wedding ceremony in the eastern province of Mardin’s Midyat district on late Sunday.

Reportedly, the incident took place during the ceremony for which Iehmuz Turgut worked as a cameraman. When the guests began to fire their guns to celebrate wedding, one of the
bullets hit 18-year-old Turgut in the back. Rushed to a nearby hospital, the man died despite efforts of the medical team.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Around 700-800 people are killed by stray bullets in Turkey each year.
