SOCAR suspends carbamide plant construction

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has suspended the construction of the carbamide plant in Georgia’s territory, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters on May 8.

He said the project for construction of the plant has been temporarily frozen.

This decision has been made because of the failure to complete the certain negotiations with Georgian government, according to Abdullayev.

SOCAR laid foundation for carbamide plant in Georgia in late 2012.

The investment cost of the project was $100 million. Completion of the construction was expected to end in 2016.
