SOCAR: Liquidation of Azneftyag makes reductions inevitable

Baku: With the liquidation of Azneftyag oil refinery and its merger with Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) aims to run the two plants from the same center.

This was stated by Mr Khalik Mammadov, SOCAR Vice-President for Personnel, Regime and Information Technologies, APA-Economics reports.

He said 198 people work in senior positions at the Baku Oil Refinery plant named after Heydar Aliyev adding that the same number of people works in senior positions at Azneftyag oil refinery.

“In total, 2,300 people are employed at the Baku Oil Refinery plant named after Heydar Aliyev, and 2,100 at the Azneftyag refinery. It’s quite understandable that a facility which is run from a common center cannot have two directors or two chief engineers. What it means is that reduction is unavoidable in such a situation. The leadership of these two facilities will merge. By this means, justice and transparency will be ensured,” said K. Mammadov.

The vice-president added that reductions will not apply to Azneftyag workers.

Note that, on 24 December 2014, SOCAR made a decision on the liquidation of Azneftyag oil refinery and its merger with Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev from 1 January 2015.
