Settlement of frozen conflicts to be reflected in Riga summit declaration

Baku: The European Union supports acceleration of all frozen conflicts in each of Eastern Partnership countries, not only in Nagorno-Karabakh, an EU official told reporters on condition of anonymity.

The EU official said the issue of the settlement of frozen conflicts will be mentioned in a declaration to be adopted at the Riga summit.

“The settlement of conflicts in the entire region and maintenance of stability are of the most important issues for the EU. We’re not just concerned by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but we’re also seeking to find a solution to this conflict. The issue of the settlement of frozen conflicts in Eastern Partnership countries will also be reflected in a declaration to be adopted at the Riga summit,” said the official.

The official added that the Riga summit will put the emphasis largely on building closer ties between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries and definition of a policy on member countries.
