Seoul solemnly celebrates National Day of Azerbaijan

Baku: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Korea has held an official reception on the occasion of the National Day of Azerbaijan – Republic Day and the 23rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Korea.

The official reception was organized at Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel in Seoul, the Embassy told APA.

The event was attended by Minister of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea

Yoo Ki-June, government and state officials, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Seoul, prominent public and political figures, heads of Korea’s universities and think tanks, as well as the companies in Azerbaijan, media representatives, Azerbaijani students studying in Korea and Diaspora representatives.

Dressing the event, Ambassador Ramzi Teymurov hailed the importance and significance of the 28th of May – the Republic Day informing the participants about the history of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan and achievements gained during that period. The Ambassador also spoke about the challenges that Azerbaijan faced, the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and its consequences, and the successful development path that Azerbaijan has gone along under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.

Teymurov stressed the importance of Azerbaijan-Korea relations, saying that the relations are developing rapidly in economic, cultural, political, educational and other spheres and numerous high-level visits are made in this regard.

Minister Yoo Ki-June, on behalf of the Korean government, congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that although both Azerbaijan and Korea faced many challenges in the recent past, they have preserved their national identities and forge ahead in the path of progress and development.

During the event, the presentation of Baku-2015 First European Games was held as well.
