Satirist Aziz Nesin to be remembered in Istanbul exhibition

Aziz Nesin, one of Turkeyand’s most prolific authors of the 20th century, will be remembered in an upcoming exhibition in Istanbul this month, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Titled and”andOmrandune Siimayan Adam: Aziz Nesin 1915-2015and” (The man who outlived his life), the exhibition is set to go on display June 9 at the Tandutandun Deposu art space in Tophane, its organizers said in a press release issued last week.
The exhibition, put together by the Nesin Foundation, will mark the first time the entire written and visual archive of the literary satirist, whose wide-ranging oeuvre includes hundreds of short stories and essays as well as numerous stage plays and poems, will be put on public display since his death on July 6, 1995, at age 79.
Nesin, who was born Dec. 20, 1915, was widely popular for his often entertaining depictions of Turkeyand’s social and political panorama through witty sarcasm in his short stories.
The exhibition at Tandutandun Deposu, located in a former tobacco warehouse, is set to run until July 16, and aims to introduce the late authorand’s body of work and his political stance particularly to younger generations.
