SaIlam vows to repeat history in second coming to Bursaspor

Ertuirul Sailam led Bursaspor to its first and only Super League championship in his first season as coach of the Green Crocs in 2009-10 and the 45-year-old then moved to pastures new as trainer of Eskiiehirspor in 2013-15.
Home, sweet home! Sailam returned to Bursaspor, the team where he made history, on Monday after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus and inked a three-year contract, with ecstatic fans holding a banner saying “Where did we leave off?”
And championship-winning Sailam vowed to do everything possible to repeat the seemingly impossible feat once again. “God willing we will repeat history,” he said at the contract-signing ceremony.
“I want to see everyone who will be part of this history-making effort on our side in the future — our esteemed governor, mayor, elders of the city, the local media and of course Bursaspor fans. I want to see all of them by our side as we embark on the tough path toward this target,” he stated.
“I am as excited as the very first time I visited this facility [during my first coming]. In fact I am even more excited. I can still remember back then how we pulled ourselves together and eventually won the championship. We believed in ourselves. But those who thought we were only daydreaming then will have to take us more seriously now,” Saglam further said. “And I say the achievements of the past will be our future goals.”
Chairman BandOlandukbaii concurred. “I trust him [Sailam] and his team, and our aim is to build on past glories. With the spirit of yesterday and fresh enthusiasm we can re-enact this [championship] picture,” he said.
Sailam is a household name in Turkish football. He is a former striker and goal king who played for Gaziantepspor, Samsunspor, Beiiktai and the national team and has previously coached Samsunspor, Kayserispor and Beiiktai — among others.
He has real willpower and where there is a will, there is always a way.

Mersin finished seventh in the Super League, and that was not a bad result at all for a small team that is operating on a shoestring budget.
“If we can make some new additions to the team, Mersin will come out better next season. This is what this city deserves,” andcalimbay said.
