Russia made proposals on intensification of talks between Azerbaijan, Armenia – FM Mammadyarov

Baku: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made proposals on the intensification of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Friday at a press conference held after talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Baku.

Lavrov’s proposals were put forth on behalf of the co-chairing countries, Mammadyarov said.

“All agree that the biggest problem is the continued occupation of Azerbaijani lands, Mammadyarov said. This is a threat to the regional threat, he noted.

During their last visit to Azerbaijan, the co-chairs proposed to hold a meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the FM said. “We agreed to hold the meeting by the end of the year. The co-chairs are working on this matter,” he added.
