President Ilham Aliyev attends opening of new settlement built for IDP families

Baku: On August 6, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of a new settlement built in Aghdam district for 632 IDP families.

Informing the president, Deputy PM, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said 632 houses, a school with a capacity of 440 pupils, a kindergarten meant for 50 children, an administrative building, a medical facility, a community center and a post office have been built in the new settlement that covers an area of 70 ha, APA reports.

3,100 IDPs or 632 families who live under hard conditions in underground dents and huts built of bricks and canes in an area called ‘Dord yol’ in Aghdam district will be moved to the settlement. 50 of the houses are single room, 296 two-room, 242 three-room, and 44 four-room. Construction works, which had started in February 2014, were completed at the highest level.

The head of state got acquainted with the house allocated for the family of Basti Allahverdiyeva, an IDP from Aghdam district.

The president also visited the 50-bed kindergarten and the newly built school with a capacity of 440 pupils.

Later, the President Ilham Aliyev met with public figures of Aghdam district and gave a speech.
