President Aliyev inaugurates Muslim Magomayev ship

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev participated in the inauguration ceremony of the fast crew boat named after People’s Artists of the USSR, world-renowned singer Muslim Magomayev.

Alongside with President Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva and spouse of late Muslim Magomayev, People’s Artists of the USSR Tamara Sinyavskaya attended the ceremony held on December 18, AzerTag news agency reported.

Tamara Sinyavskaya cut the ribbon symbolizing the launch of the boat.

Then Muslim Magomayev`s famous “Azerbaijan” song was performed.

Magomayev was an instant celebrity in the Soviet Union and Europe. At age 30, Magomayev was one of the youngest recipients of the highest artistic title, People’s Artist of the USSR. He also received numerous awards and decorations for his contribution to opera and popular music in the Soviet Union. Magomayev died of a heart failure on 25 October 2008, in Moscow, Russia. He was laid to rest in Baku, Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev also made a tour of different parts of the ship. The president was told that the boat arrived in Baku port on December 4. The facility can carry 150 passengers.

Rauf Valiyev, Chairman of “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company” CJSC informed the president about different aspects of the fast crew boat. It was purchased under a long-term alliance agreement with Caspian Marine Services Company.

The length of the boat is 70m, its width, 16m, and its height 6m. It was built with lightweight marine-grade aluminum. The world’s largest fast crew boat was constructed at Australian Incat Tasmania shipyard. Having gone through all sea trials, the boat departed to Baku on October 4. A corner reflecting photos of Muslim Magomayev was created at the facility.

Sinyavskaya thanked President Aliyev for his attention to the memory of Muslim Magomayev.

President Aliyev highlighted the creative works of Muslim Magomayev, adding his memory will live forever in the hearts of the people of Azerbaijan.

Sinyavskaya pushed a button to launch the boat.

The new high-speed boat will pave the way for operational efficiency of helicopter transfer for both passengers and cargo, while reducing the passengers’ stress.

President Aliyev also reviewed the Lankaran towing-supply vessel. The vessel is 74.5m in length and 17.2m in width. The Lankaran towing-supply vessel is a leading company in the Caspian Sea because of its technical indicators. The tractive force of the 16,320-horsepower vessel is 207 tons.

Then President Aliyev also had a conversation with the captain of a vessel sailing in the Black Sea under Azerbaijani flag through a video conference.

Afterwards, President Aliyev gave relevant instructions to the persons in charge.
