Pope Francis hopes Turkish-Armenian borders will open

Baku: Pope Francis expressed hope that Turkish-Armenian borders will open, APA reports citing Milliyet newspaper.

The pontiff returned to Vatican after ending his 3-day visit to Turkey.

He told journalists that he want Turkey-Armenian borders to be opened.

“I sincerely want this border to be opened. That would be fine. I know that in this region there are problems that do not facilitate the process of opening the borders, but I pray for the achievement of harmony between peoples,” the pontiff added.

During the visit to Turkey, Pope Francis met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, head of religious affairs directorate, Mehmet Gormez and other officials.
