Police step up security at Cumhuriyet headquarters over possible attack

Istanbul police stepped up security measures at and around the headquarters of the Cumhuriyet daily, a staunch critic of the acting Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government, over tip off they received on a possible attack on the daily on Friday.
A statement by the daily posted on its website said Istanbul Police Department officials told managers of the daily that they received a tip off that the dailyandrsquos headquarters in Istanbulandrsquos iiili district may be attacked, adding that police took security measures in and outside the Cumhuriyet building. and”This is all what we have been told by police officials,and” the daily said.
