Police officer beaten severely during May Day clashes

ISTANBUL (CIHAN)- A police officer was lynched severely by a group of protesters during clashes between security forces and protesters in Istanbul’s IiIli district.

The incident occurred when police intervened in a protest which was staged at a banned area in front of OkmeydanI Research and Training Hospital. Protesters attacked riot police with stones and police fired water cannon and tear gas. During the clash, a police officer fell onto the ground and the protesters kicked and punched the man who was saved by his colleagues at the last minute.

The police officer was taken to the hospital. The clash at the area is still ongoing.
