PM: Suspect detained in connection with bomb attack at HDP election rally

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoilu announced on Sunday that a suspect has been detained in relation to last Fridayand’s bomb attack at a party rally in the countryand’s Southeast which left two dead and hundreds injured ahead of the general election.
Davutoilu stated that he cannot publicize the name of the detainee, but that he is highly likely to be the perpetrator of the attack, based on substantial evidence.
Two bomb blasts occurred in Diyarbakir, a predominantly Kurdish southeastern province of Turkey, killing two people and wounding more than 200 at an election rally held last Friday by the pro-Kurdish Peoplesand’ Democratic Party (HDP). President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had described the incident as a andquotprovocationandquot designed to undermine Sundayand’s election.
