Pipeline to replace South Stream may be called “Turkish Stream”

Baku: New gas pipeline to be built instead of South Stream may be called “Turkish Stream”, said the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He noted that this name was initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“This pipeline will be built in the bottom of Black Sea from Russia to Turkey, border of Greece. Turkey and Europe will be able to get gas that they need. Thus, Turkey will energy centre of the region”, Turkish President said.

On December 1, Russia’s Gazprom and Turkey’s Botas signed a memorandum to build an undersea pipeline to Turkey with an annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters.
