Penitentiary Service Chief: We will try to remove correctional facilities from the center of Baku

Baku: In no country penal system is given so much attention in Azerbaijan. It is related to the policy pursued in Azerbaijan. Today other countries are jealous of Azerbaijan’s development,” said Chief of the Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service, Lieutenant General Madat Guliyev, APA reports.

As for the removal of penitentiaries from the center of Baku, Guliyev said in recent years 10 correctional facilities were built in Azerbaijan and other 7 are under construction.

“We will try to remove the correctional facilities from the center of Baku. The correctional facility under construction in Lankaran will be inaugurated for a year. Women’s prison is being built in Sabunchu district. I think this process will be carried out in stages over the next five years,” he added.
