One-day mourning declared in Azerbaijan

Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has passed a decision declaring December 6 a day of national mourning to honor the memory of those killed in a recent accident and fire on the platform No.10 at the Guneshli offshore field of Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR).

According to the decision, flags are flying at half-mast across the Republic and at the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in foreign countries, entertainment events were postponed, as well as radio and TV channels are recommended not to broadcast show programs.

Some 32 people have been rescued and one person has died in the accident. 30 people are still missing.

Work is underway on searching and rescuing the mission people.
