Nowruz fire set in border town of Kobani

SANLIURFA: First fire of Nowruz was lighted in Suruc, Turkish border town with Kobani on Tuesday.

Thousands of people from other cities and districts attended at the celebration in Suruc. Police and soldiers took tight security measures in celebration area. There were also soldiers from the Syria’s People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the area to ensure safety. The celebrations will last a week.

Large numbers of people jumped over the fire during the celebration and many local artists performed at the area which was adorned with flags of terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Democratic Union Party (PYD) and photos of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.
