NGO files complaint about four ex-ministers accused for corruption

ISTANBUL: Turkish Youth Union (TGB) members filed a complaint against former Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government’s ministers Egemen Bagis, Zafer Caglayan, Muammer Guler and Erdogan Bayraktar who were accused for involving in graft and corruption acts.

The criminal complaint came from TGB after the immunity of these four ministers were waived after their deputyship ended few days ago as a result of AK Party’s fail in parliamentary elections. Head of the TGB Cagdas Cengiz read the press statement on behalf of his organization in front of courthouse ahead of filing complaint. Cengiz stated that this is not the issue that could be left to the mercy of parliament or politicians.

“We have filed a criminal complaint about former EU Minister Egemen Bagis, former Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan, former Interior Minister Muammer Guler and former Environment and Urbanization Minister Erdogan Bayraktar today and expect justice to be served as it should be,” Cengiz added.

Meanwhile, corruption and bribery allegations leveled against senior AK Party government figures and became public with an investigation on Dec.17, 2013.
