In a statement on Friday, Mustafa Bilgili, the prosecutor in charge of the andldquocosmic roomandrdquo investigation, said that the Justice Ministry, its minister and undersecretary as well as a official from the Turkish General Staff were informed about and supervised all phases of the 2009 investigation into the cosmic room of the General Staffand#39s Special Forces Command, where confidential state and military documents are kept.

After the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) launched an inquiry on Thursday into Bilgili and a judge who oversaw the investigation, Bilgili said that he will file criminal complaints against those who published false stories about him claiming that he exposed confidential documents.

Bilgili, who received special permission from the HSYK to make a statement, said that all the documents confiscated from the cosmic room belonged to the General Staff, whose official didnand#39t say anything about the secrecy of the documents during the investigation.

According to Bilgi, it was only the Ankara Public Prosecutorand#39s Office that decided not to continue with the five-year-long cosmic room investigation, returning the documents to the General Staff and saying they contained state secrets.

The cosmic room investigation began in December 2009 after a suspected military plot to assassinate then-Deputy Prime Minister Banduumllent ArInandccedil became public when two military officers were captured as they stood watch near ArInandccediland#39s house in Ankaraand#39s andCcedilukurambar neighborhood.

Ankara 11th High Criminal Court Judge Kadir Kayan and Prosecutor Bilgili had conducted a search of the headquarters of the Special Forces Command, where confidential military documents were held, as part of a probe into the suspected plot.

Judge Kayan personally read the documents confiscated in the search and took notes on them After the completion of the investigation, Judge Kayan sent his report to Mustafa Bilgili, the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.

However, last week the Ankara Public Prosecutorand#39s Office decided not to continue with the five-year-long cosmic room investigation.

The HSYKand#39s move to launch an inquiry into Bilgili and Judge Kayan came just after the Ankara Public Prosecutorand#39s Officeand#39s decision to drop the investigation.

The HSYK has also commissioned an inspector for the inquiry.

The dossier about Kayan, who is currently a member of the Supreme Court of Appeals, has been sent to the same court.
