Military base in southeastern Turkey hit by two mortar shells

A military base in Turkeyand’s southeastern district of Dailica has been struck by two mortar shells, according to a statement issued on the website of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
The TSK statement said andquotA group of terrorists from the separatist terrorist organization has launched an attack by firing two mortar shells at the Hakkari Dailica military base of the Land Forces Commandand’s regimental border command.andquot
According to the statement, the TSK troops in the region immediately fired back and the terrorist group stopped their attack. No damages or casualties occurred during the attack, the statement added.
TSK officials usually refer to the outlawed Kurdistan Workersand’ Party (PKK) as andquotthe terrorist organizationand” when issuing statements.
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the international community, including the United States and the European Union.
