Mehriban Aliyeva visits injured in fire outbreak in Baku – PHOTOSESSION

Baku: Azerbaijan’s first lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva on Wednesday visited Clinical Medical Center No.1 to learn the condition of those injured in yesterday’s enormous fire outbreak that engulfed a multi-storey high-rise in Binagadi district.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation told APA that Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informed the first lady of the health condition of the injured receiving treatment in the medical center, saying a total of 56 people have asked for medical aid since yesterday’s horrific fire. 15 of them received medical aid right on the spot, and 41 were hospitalized. 26 of those hospitalized were released on Tuesday.

One died last night despite doctors’ efforts. The death toll thus reached 15. 14 people are still being treated in hospitals. Another 12 patients are undergoing treatment at the toxicology department of Clinical Medical Center No.1. 3 of the injured are children at three, four, and six years of age.

She was told the patients are in stable but critical condition and that there is no threat to their lives.

Mehriban Aliyeva talked with the patients, telling them that their comprehensive treatment and the provision of compensation for the damages are under personal control of President Ilham Aliyev.

Mehriban Aliyeva extended deep condolences to the victims’ families, assuring that those responsible would be punished.

Mehriban Aliyeva wished them fast recovery.
