Martyred in Diyarbakir, funeral of policeman brought to homeland

The funeral of special operation police, Mustafa Katirli ,24, who had been martyred to death in gun battle, in which also Diyarbakir Bar Head Tahir Elci was killed in Nov. 28 in Diyarbakir, was brought to his homeland, southern Turkish province of Kahramanmaras on Sunday.

After the military ceremony, which was held in Diyarbakir, the funeral of the policeman was brought to Kahramanmaras by a military plane. The funeral, which was in coffin, wrapped with Turkish flag, was welcomed by Mayor Mustafa Hakan Guvencer, leading Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies İmran Kilic, İlker Citil, his father Ali Katirli, mother Muhterem Katirli, his sisters, protocol members and his colleagues at Kahramanmaras airport.

Noticeably, instead of escort of honour, special operation police officers carried the martyred police’s coffin.

Mother and father Katirli hugged the coffin of their son and cried for a while. Following a short prayer, the funeral vehicle left from the airport.
