Main opposition leader slams gov’t over tax fraud claims

ANKARA (CIHAN)- Kemal KIlIçdaroIlu, leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) strongly criticized government which calmed that the Twitter has committed tax fraud saying that governmental officials involved in tax fraud are not tried in a court.

Speaking during the party group meeting on Tuesday, KIlIçdaroIlu stated that the government has put forward some claims that Twitter has committed tax fraud in Turkey in a way to justify closure of Twitter. The politician said some government officials who were involved in tax fraud have not been tired in a court by giving example of former Economy Minister Zafer ÇaIlayan who accepted a valuable watch worth 300,000 Swiss francs (TL 700,000) as a bribe from Reza Zarrab, an Iranian businessman.

KIlIçdaroIlu further stated that there are a number of wrongdoings in the country. While people with little income asked to pay high amount of tax regularly, some people who earned large sum of money do not pay anything to the government, pointed out the politician.
