Main opposition deputy slams gov’t over seizure of İpek media

Safak Pavey, a deputy form the Republican People’s Party (CHP) strongly criticized intrusion of the police into the headquarters of critical media outlets as part of a government operation to illegally appoint partisan trustees to take over their management.

Speaking to Bugun TV, Pavey stated that we have been witnessing history that Turkey has never faced before. “The only reason of this is that they stole, they were captured and now they foist world upon us” she said.

Pavey expressed she is sorry to hear what happened to the worker of İpek media. “We all witness such a disgrace in journalism. You try to broadcast painstakingly here. Now we witness the history. Turkey has never seen such a thing and the only reason of this is that they stole, they were captured and now they foist world upon us. They have to know that they will be collapsed while they foisting world upon us.” she added.

The Ankara 5th Criminal Court of Peace on Monday ruled that trustees be appointed to replace the existing boards of directors of Koza İpek Holding and its companies, of which Bugun and Kanalturk are also a part, based on a demand by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
