Locals not open shops in protests against Erdogan, Davutoglu in eastern Turkey

HAKKARI: Shopkeepers in the eastern province of Hakkari’s Yuksekova district did not open their workplaces on Tuesday in a protest against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu who will arrive in town to attend some opening ceremonies.

Shops, including bakeries and pharmacies, were not open in the district. Meanwhile, security forces took strict security measures before the arrival of Erdogan and Davutoglu. Armoed vehicle were positioned in different parts of the city and police officers were dispatched from neighboring provinces.
