Lawyers collect garbage at picnic area in western Turkey

BURSA: A group of lawyers from a bar association collected garbage at Botanik Park in western province of Bursa on Saturday as part of a campaign launched by international civic movement “Lets’ Do It,”.

During the activity, the lawyers found interesting wastes such as baby shoe and TL 50 at the park. One of the lawyers named Zeynep Pinar Sahin stated that their aim is not to collect waste materials but to create awareness among people to protect environment.

Volunteers from 22 countries, including Turkey, attend a high-spirited simultaneous event on May 9 to clean up the Mediterranean Sea — both the coastline and water — with the objective of marking a noteworthy change on the earth.

Turkey is an important participant in the campaign and participants will partake in 10 Mediterranean cities. A report released in the movement’s newsletter quoted Emre Ustaoglu, the coordinator of the campaign in Turkey, as saying that they are aiming for 160,000 volunteers in 10 cities stretching from the Greek to Syrian border.
