Jar burials belonging 2nd century BC discovered in Azerbaijan

Infant jar burials, probably belonging to 2nd century BC, were discovered in the northern Azerbaijani province of Seki accidentally by a villager during an agricultural digging in his garden.

Ancient burials were found in Fazil village of mountainous Seki province. After discovering human bones and jars in his garden, the villager whose name is unknown informed authorities and archeologists kicked off researches at the area and unveiled more jar burials, household goods and animal bones. Reportedly archeologists also found remains of a temple belonging same period of time in the area.
