Izmir Governor protested over absence at opening of Izmir fair

IZMIR: A large group of people protested Izmir Governor Mustafa Toprak on Wednesday on the grounds that he did not attend opening ceremony of Izmir Fair, which was established by Izmir Municipality.

When Vice Governor Hasan Huseyin Can took the stage for a speech at opening of a marble fair and stated that Toprak could not attend the event due to his busy schedule, participants protested him by whistling and applauding. The protest was stopped by the warning of Izmir Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu.

In addition, the fair was attended by leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu. He was greeted with great interest by the people which led a to stampede at the fair.
