İstanbul film festival to launch new competition

The 2016 festival, set for April 7-17, will be the 35th edition of the event.

Short films produced after Jan. 1, 2015 with a running time of under 20 minutes are eligible for the new competition, the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts said in a press release.

The finalists of the competition will be selected by a preliminary jury made up of Alice Kharoubi, the head of the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, Turkish short film director Fatih Kızılgok and critic Serdar Kokceoglu.

The winner of the Best Short Film award will receive a TL 5,000 cash prize. The festival’s International Federation of Film Critics jury will also choose a winner.
