Int’l donors to assist in Georgia’s population census

By: Jamila Babayeva

International donors have allocated additional funds for the general population census in Georgia in 2014. A relevant agreement on co-financing was signed between the Swedish Government and the United Nations Population Fund to support the general census and quality data collection.

The document reads that the Swedish government allocated additional resources of more than $ 1.1mln and United Nations Population Fund contributed up to $200,000 in 2014.

The donor assistance is directed to conduct a full population census, including data collection, creating a quality supervision system, conducting all-round media campaign to inform the public, holding high-quality census and publishing questionnaires for the population.

The National Statistics Office represents an implementing partner of this project.

Georgia will hold the general census of population during November 5-19, 2014.
