Information about Nida member’s hunger-strike doesn’t reflect the truth

Baku: Fuad Jafarov; “The members of NIDA Civic Movement continue their hunger-strike in jail,” Namig Hajiyev told APA.

Hajiyev noted that seven members of NIDA Civic Movement and a member of Free Youth Organization went on a hunger-strike on April 17.

Hajiyev said that they continue the strike: “Rashadat Akhundov told me in jail that they will continue the strike.”

Hajiyev noted that there is still no information about the health of young people on the hunger strike.

Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service told APA that information about imprisoned Nida member’s hunger-strike doesn’t reflect the truth: “The health of all imprisoned members of NIDA Civic Movement is normal.”

Prosecutor demanded to sentence Zaur Gurbanli, Ilkin Rustamzadeh and Rashadat Akhundov to 8 years 6 months in prison, Rashad Hasanov, Bakhtiyar Guliyev and Mammad Azizov to 8 years, Uzeyir Mammadli to 7 years 6 months and Shahin Novruzlu to 6 years 6 months at the hearing presided over by judge Javid Huseynov on April 17.

Protesting the prosecutor’s speech, NIDA members said that they would go on a hunger-strike.
