Heydar Aliyev’s heritage remembered in Baku

Many political figures and officials assembled at the Heydar Aliyev Center on December 9 to remember the heritage of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Scientific workshop entitled “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani literature” was held on the eve of the great leader’s memory day.

Heydar Aliyev, who devoted his life to prosperity and well-being of his nation, holds a special place in the history of Azerbaijan.

A talented politician and public figure, demonstrated his ability as a national leader and became a legend even when he was alive. The national leader has done unparalleled work for his nation during his ruling over the country during the Soviet period and as the president of an independent Azerbaijan.

Such workshops have become a tradition in the country and so far reports on topics such as “The personality of Heydar Aliyev in the history of modern Azerbaijan,” “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani science,” “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani language,” and “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani model of governance” were held as part of the “Heydar Aliyev’s heritage: scientific-practical workshops” project.

Speakers to the events are those who ever knew and worked with great leader including well-known scientists and public figures.

Creating a new milestone in the modern history of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev gained the love and respect of millions of people through his bright ideas and genuine works.

Since the date of youth Heydar Aliyev was found of literature, showing great interest to creativity of both Azerbaijani and foreign poets and writers.

Heydar Aliyev was closely familiar with the works of great national writers and poets such as Huseyn Javid, Jalil Mammadguluzade, Samad Vurgun, as well as Turkish poet Tevfig Fikret and great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

Addressing the event, famous Azerbaijani writer Elchin Efendiyev shared his memories of the great leader, stressing that the work carried out by Heydar Aliyev in political, economic, social and cultural life contributed to the development of the country.

The national leader paid special attention and support to the development of Azerbaijani literature, even during the Soviet period, when it was not an easy deal.

Heydar Aliyev was always attentive to writers and poets, caring about their treatment, housing and other similar issues.

Celebration of 1300th anniversary of the “Kitabi Dede Gorgud” epos by Heydar Aliyev’s order in the country become a wise decision, turning Azerbaijan into a cultural center of the Turkic world.

During his political activity Heydar Aliyev participated in the most complex and contradictory historical processes in the world without losing his self-control in difficult situations, correctly estimating geopolitical changes that could dramatically affect people.

Efendiyev noted that he intends to write a documentary work about the merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan.

Heydar Aliyev came to power as the president of Azerbaijan on July 24, 1993 approved by the parliament – the Milli Mejlis.

Azerbaijani National leader was elected president of Azerbaijan in a nationwide vote on October 3, 1993, and was re-elected in 1998.

Heydar Aliyev died on December 12, 2003, but the memory of the brilliant politician is still alive to this day.
