Heavy snowfall hits Russia’s Uralic Region

EKATERINBURG (CIHAN)- Heavy snowfall and blizzard paralyzed daily life in many parts of Russia’s Ural region.

Urals witnessed one of the heavy snowfalls in these days of the year while southern parts of Russia and including capital city of Moscow embracing the hot weather which thermometers show 20 degrees Celsius.

According the metrological data, In Yekaterinburg, the temperatures fell to -5 degrees Celsius. Snow depth reached to 20-30 centimeters in Yekaterinburg.

Russian meteorological authorities forecasted also that, cold weather and snowfall will affect the region in the coming days

Meanwhile, excessive snowfall and blizzard caused electric shortage in Chelyabinsk. In the southern Urals region visibility fell to 15 meters.

Authorities have warned that except for emergency situation, people have to stay home and not go out.
