Heavy snowfall hampers Nowruz celebrations in eastern Turkey

AGRI: The heavy snowfall that have started on Sunday and covered eastern Turkish Province of Agri with white blanket in a short time, paralyzed daily life and hindered the celebration of Nowruz holiday.

Reportedly, snow in depth reached to 50 centimeters during the night in the province. Excessive snowfall also affected the traffic inside the Agri city negatively and many roads to rural areas of the province were closed. Authorities made a day off in the education while long term power outages have been experienced in the city.

Municipality teams mobilized to clean snow piled on the roads and streets of the city. As the snow accompanied with stormy weather conditions, the daily life of the citizens in the province almost paralyzed and Nowruz holiday celebrations cancelled.
