Heavy fog led to closure the Dardanelles Strait to transit sea transport

CANAKKALE: Dardanelles Strait was closed to transit sea transport as bidirectional due to the heavy fog effective across the Canakkale province of Turkey.

Thick fog, which has been affecting the straits since the early morning hours of Friday has led the bidirectional closure of the Dardanelles to the transit sea transport in order to prevent possible wreck.

According to the information, this was given by the local authorities that despite the closure, scheduled ferry lines cruising in the strait.

Meanwhile, it is expected to be given permission to the transit ships, which has been waiting off-shore the Dardanelles, as soon as the fog will lose its affect.
