Heads of religious confessions in Azerbaijan appeal to President Ilham Aliyev

Baku: Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Archbishop Alexander of Baku and Azerbaijan, Ordinary of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Roman Catholic Church in Azerbaijan Vladimir Fekete, Head of the Community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan Melih Yevdayev, Chairman of the Baku Community of European Jews Gennady Zelmanovich, and Chairman of the Alban-Udi Christian Community Robert Mobili have appealed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In the appeal, the heads of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan express their gratitude to the head of state for having been awarded the “Honorary diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan” on the International Day of Tolerance, for their contributions to the development of multicultural traditions and interfaith relations, the CMO told APA.

The appeal goes on to mention that the sustainable environment of tolerance currently dominant in Azerbaijan is a historical achievement that forms the basis of national solidarity and socio-political stability in our society. Regardless of their faith, language, and ethnicity, all citizens of Azerbaijan enjoy freedoms of speech, conscience, and religion as well as state-religion relationship and democratic-legal conditions.

They also express hope that all conflicts including the conflict over ancient Azerbaijani land Nagorno-Karabakh soon get peacefully resolved in line with international law.
