German FM: We looking forward to upcoming meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents in Paris; “We hope that this meeting will end up with thawing of frozen positions and lead to a lasting solution to the conflict”

Baku: Germany is closely monitoring regional conflicts, including Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.

The minister said that they had been dealing with Ukraine for months, but they are also concerned about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“We are looking forward to the meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents to be held in Paris on October 27 and hope this meeting will end up with thawing of frozen positions and lead to a lasting solution to the conflict,” he said.

He also added that the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus is an experienced German diplomat and they want to see the role of Germany and the EU in this issue.
