Genler vs. Mersin in Ankara kicks off Super League week 33

Genandclerbirliii hosts Mersin idmanyurdu in the penultimate week of the Spor Toto Super League at the capital’s 19 Mayis Stadium on Friday evening.
And it is expected to be a clash of two evenly matched teams, as Mersin goes in to the week 33 game in eighth place with 43 points and Genandclerbirliii just one spot behind with 40 points.
With the Spor Toto Super League season heading to the finish line, the last three teams — Balikesirspor, Kardemir Karabandukspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor — have been relegated to the second division — while arch-rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahandce are still fighting for the crown.
However, neither host Genandclerbirliii nor visiting Mersin idmanyurdu belongs to either of these two categories. The two teams do not have any have any relegation worries and are also well out of the title race. This means both Genandcler and Mersin are happy and relaxed ahead of Friday’s match and therefore will only be playing for pride and prestige.
Genandclerbirliii is winless in its last two games, losing 1-0 away to Torku Konyaspor in week 31 and 1-0 in Istanbul to leader Galatasaray last Saturday. Mesut Bakkal’s men will be striving to put an end to this winless jinx and the Ankarians have been training all week long for this purpose. However, several working wounded were absent.
Germany-born forward Guido Koandcer midfielders Doia Kaya, andOzgandur ileri, Nizamettin andcaliikan and keeper andubeyd Adiyaman missed several practice sessions this week. Some will recover in time in time for Friday’s match, but some will not. Left back Uiur andciftandci is suspended and will be conspicuously absent against Mersin idmanyurdu.
Riza andcalimbay’s Mersin was up against the best and strongest teams in the land in its last two consecutive home Super League matches — and was beaten in both. The Mediterranean representative lost 1-0 to leader Galatasaray in week 31 and by the same score to Fenerbahandce in week 32.
Playing against the best always puts too much pressure on the referees and andcalimbay may well have witnessed some horrendous officiating in both recent games. He is therefore appealing to referees to be more courageous and blow their whistles without fear or favor.
“What I say never comes to the fore nonetheless, I am urging to referees to show more courage when making their decisions,” he said of the matches against Galatasaray and Fenerbahandce.
“We lost two matches we should have won and I am very sad because we put on our best performance in these games, but Iost due to poor refereeing. I am happy though with the team’s fighting spirit and I say Mersin is one of the best in the Super League,” he added.
The Genandclerbirliii-Mersin idmanyurdu game starts at 8 p.m.
