French senator: Impossible to overlook Azerbaijan’s being at forefront of multiculturalism

Baku: It’s impossible to overlook Azerbaijan’s being at the forefront of multiculturalism, French Senator Nathalie Goulet said Monday in her speech at the panel discussion “Let’s share culture for the sake of common security: soft power in the modern world and contributions to the positive aspects of diversity” organized as part of the 3rd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.

Goulet emphasized Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev remarking patriotism in his speech.

“Different individuals join the ranks of extremist groups in the name of Jihad. They deceive and recruit youngsters from France and other countries by misrepresenting Islam. 20 percent of ISIL fighters are from Christian countries.

We have to protect young people from being deceived. We must work together in this direction. Of course, education is of fundamental importance. If a girl doesn’t go to school, it should worry us. If Azerbaijan gained success in this field, it should share it with other countries. Azerbaijan needs to encourage large countries to work in this field,” she added.

Goulet stressed the need to show the brutality of terrorists to the citizens.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of the forum, particularly to Azerbaijan. We should adopt a joint Baku declaration. We can declare that we are supporting multiculturalism. Azerbaijan is contributing to the European family through the European Games, despite it faced the occupation,” the French senator noted.
