Five people killed at house party in west Canada

Baku: Five people were killed in a stabbing rampage at a house party in the southwest Canadian city of Calgary early Tuesday morning and a suspect has been arrested, police said, APA reports quoting local media.

The police said in a statement that they received reports of a stabbing soon after midnight at a house in a quiet suburban neighborhood where police officers found three people dead.

Two more died of their injuries on the road to hospital, the police said, adding that the victims were four men and a woman, reportedly all in their late teens or early 20s.

The police said a man who had fled from the home was arrested with the help of a canine unit.

Multiple witnesses were interviewed by detectives, the police said.

Neighbors said the home was being rented by University of Calgary students and that they were having a so-called Bermuda shorts day party that started Monday evening.

The police said they were working to identify the victims and notify next of kin. Names will be released after autopsies are performed.

The University of Calgary said in a statement that it was ” mourning the loss of five young people killed early this morning in Brentwood.”
