Fire breaks out at Russia’s iconic convent

MOSCOW: A fire broke out at the Novodevichy Convent, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow, where grave of Turkish author Nazim Hikmet is located.

The fire began at the bell tower of the convent which is under restoration and spread to around 100 square meters area.

Sixteen fire engines were dispatched to the scene. Authorities stated that the tower did not suffer significant damage.
