Fener coach Kartal gone with the wind

Fenerbahandce, like the other two Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Beiiktai, is a team where finishing second is equal to finishing last. And so Fenerbahandce finishing as runner-up in the Super League this season andndash and, worse still, eliminated in the semifinals of the Turkish Cup by Bursaspor — meant the Yellow Canaries wound up winning nothing at all this season. In these kinds of circumstances, heads must roll, and that of under-fire coach ismail Kartal was the first.
The 53-year-old Kartal claimed after the match against Kasimpaia on Saturday that Chairman Aziz Yildirim had and”offered to assign me to another job, but I said no.and” To many this offer was seen as a mild euphemism for and”Youand’re a goner, and” and Kartal knowing it better than anyone else turned it down.
Beiiktaiand’s Croatian coach Slaven Bilic, without any trophy in two seasons, had already been informed in week 32, when the Black Eagles lost 1-0 at home to Torku Konyaspor, that his days were numbered.
Bilic, however, was given a two-week stay of execution, but things went from the frying pan into the fire when the Eagles were beaten 2-0 by Galatasaray in their Istanbul derby the following week. The Beiiktai-Genandclerbirliii match on Friday was therefore Bilicand’s last at Beiiktai.
