Fener-Bursa winner to take on Galatasaray in cup final

Fenerbahandce and Bursaspor are taking a break from an intensive Super League and readying themselves for yet another intense clash to fill the remaining Ziraat Turkish Cup final spot as the two clubs meet at iandukrandu Saracoilu Stadium on Thursday.
Galatasaray became the first finalist on Tuesday after losing 2-1 away to Sivasspor, but nonetheless aanced 5-3 on aggregate having won the first leg 4-1 at home in April.
Fener, trailing leader Galatasaray by three points with two weeks to go in the Super League, has a commanding 2-1 aantage from the first-leg match over Bursaspor in April and a victory or a draw would match Fenerbahandce, aka the Yellow Canaries, with arch-rival Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup final on June 3.
While winning the Super League title remains their main focus for the season, clinching the cup is a matter of pride and prestige for the Canaries, who have won the cup twice in the last three years following a 29-year drought.
Fenerbahandce coach ismail Kartal is expected to avoid risking regular player Emre BelandOzoilu — who scored a crucial extra-time goal last week to keep his sideand’s title hopes alive — due to a minor injury. Kartal is planning to rest him ahead of the important Super League clash with Baiakiehir this weekend.
For one-time winner and four-time finalist Bursaspor, the stakes are higher as playing in the Turkish Cup final would boost the cluband’s chances of earning a ticket to next seasonand’s Europa League. The Green Crocs, as the fans call Bursaspor, are fifth in the league with a better head-to-head record over Trabzonspor and falling below this spot would ruin the Crocsand’ European dreams.
ienol Ganduneiand’s men will, therefore, strive to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit in Istanbul on Thursday to set up a final with Galatasaray at Bursaand’s Timsah Arena. Bursaspor goalie Harun Tekin said after Sundayand’s Gaziantepspor match that Fenerbahandce has the aantage going into the second leg but that his team would do its best.

Elsewhere in Sivas, Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoilu opted to field a team of mostly reserves against Sivasspor to keep his regulars well-rested for Sundayand’s derby against Beiiktai at the Arena, where Galatasaray could secure the Super League championship with one match to spare.
The first half of the second-leg cup match ended in a goalless draw while Galatasarayand’s Umut Bulut hit the crossbar in the 30th minute before Semih Kaya later fouled Sivassporand’s Burhan Eier, which the referee controversially deemed to be outside the penalty box.
Batuhan Karadeniz handed the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute. Four minutes later Batuhan received a pass from Moroccoand’s Aatif Chahechouhe and sent the ball into the opponentand’s net to make it 2-0. With a newfound belief to overturn the 4-1 deficit in the first leg, Sivasspor came on strong but Batuhan missed two glaring chances. Coming off the bench to replace Goran Pandev, Yasin andOztekin was fouled and earned his side a penalty. Emre andcolak converted it to make the score 2-1 and Sivasand’s dreams thus came to an abrupt end.
