Farewell ceremony held in Cemal Resit Rey Hall for Turkish Elvis

ISTANBUL: A farewell ceremony was held for one of Turkey’s famous singer and songwriter Erol Buyukburc who passed away on Thursday in his home located in Istanbul’s Etiler district.

A somber Ceremonial, which were organized for Buyukburc started with a stand in silence. Buyukburc’s daughter Evren Erol Buyukburc and Ozlem Kaya Buyukburc accepted condolences during the ceremony in which Lalehan, granddaughter of famous singer said farewell to his grandfather by touching of his coffin. Famous celebrities Metin ve Eda Ozulku, Sezen Cumhur Onal, Hakan Peker, Bora Gencer, Seyyal Taner, Nuri Alco were among the attendees.

In the sidelines of the ceremony, Erol Buyukburc’s daughter Evren held a speech and said that his father gave numerous successive concerts and tired very much. I realized him many times. Daughter of the Erol Buyukburc explained the cause of his father’s death was ill hearth condition in the ceremony. He fond of working very much and living with art love. “The reason of my father’s death was not suspected. My father was cardiac patient. He has three stents in his heart. My father has also diabetic and hyper tension patient, “noted Evren Buyukburc.

In her speech Evren, also added that they would keep alive her father’s name by naming their school as Erol Buyukburc.

Sezen Cumhur Onal, a famous Turkish singer also held a speech and stated that Erol Buyukburc was not a genetically modified musician. “We will keep his name alive by naming our school Erol Buyukburc,” noted Onal.

Buyukburc will be laid to rest after the noon prayer who is being prayed in the Levent Cami.

Buyukburc was born in 1936 in the southern province of Adana. His career began with the release of the song “Little Lucy” in 1961. His debut album, “Sevgi Cicekleri” (Flowers of Love), was released in 1975 and propelled him to fame on a national level. He received approximately 200 awards during a career in which he released five vinyl LPs and 75 singles, featuring a total of 1,800 compositions. He also starred in 30 movies.
