Efes trounces EskiIehir, Fener ulker beats Banvit in TBLAnadolu Efes was too strong for bottom-placed NSK EskiIehir Basket as Dusan Ivkovicandrsquos men cruised a comfortable 96-68 victory over their opponents in the closing match of week 10 in the menandrsquos Turkish Basketball League (TBL) on Sunday evening.Elsewhere, Fenerbahe ulker defeated Banvitspor 99-92 earlier on the same day.

At Abdi Ipeki Arena, Nemanja Bjelica fired up Efes with 21 points, while Furkan Korkmaz added 17 and Dario Saric netted 10.Jerome Randle scored 19 points for EskiIehirAnadolu Efes had a storming start to the game and took a double-digit aantage halfway through the first quarter, 16-3.

EskiIehir later nailed an 11-3 run led by Ahmet BuIrahan Tuncer, whose three pointer reduced the deficit to five with two minutes left: 19-14. The hosts did not allow EskiIehir to come any closer and led the first quarter 29-17.

Bjelica, Korkmaz and Saric continued to score as Efes extended the margin to 25 points, 47-22, with four minutes left and were up 51-32 into half-time.In a futile attempt, EskiIehir tried to reduce the difference and came as close as 12 at the halfway point of the third quarter, 55-43.

Yet Bjelica and Deniz KIlIlI scored and a three-pointer by Korkmaz ended the third quarter 73-51 in favor of Efes. Back-to-back successful shots from behind the arc gave Efes a 29-point edge in the 35th minute and the hosts eventually wrapped up the match 96-68.

Coach Ivkovic said at a post-game press conference that the EskiIehir match was good training ahead of their Real Madrid clash on the road in the topflight Euroleague on Thursday. andldquoWe won an easier victory than I expected.

I gave playing time to 12 players. I think we controlled the game very well,andrdquo he noted.

The impressive victory ended Efesandrsquo two-match losing streak. The Istanbul club lost to Banvit in the domestic league and Nizhny Novgorod in Euroleague.

At ulker Sports Arena, Fenerbahe ulker was tied with DaruIIafaka DoIuz on the top of the TBL after clinching its eighth win over Banvit on Sunday. Zeljko Obradovicandrsquos side maintained momentum after a sensational win over then-undefeated Barcelona on the road last Thursday.

Fenerbahe led the first quarter 30-21 and continued to lead in the second half to get a 50-43 lead into half-time. The host extended the margin to 13 points in the later parts of the third quarter and was up 76-64 going into the last 10 minutes.

Even though Banvit came as close as three points with about a minute left to the final buzzer, it was too little too late, with Fenerbahe nailing a 99-92 victory at the end.Obradovic said after the match that both sides were good offensively but his team must ponder turnovers following the match.
